The ACC Testing center is pleased to offer online TSI Testing (ALL sections) via Meazure Learning.

Notice: As of March 1st 2024 students testing TSIA2 online via Meazure Learning will be responsible for the online Proctor Fee.

NOTE: Students will need a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam and mic.  Limited on-campus (main ACC campus) test sessions are available for those that do not have computer access.  Please contact us at assessment@crewbar.net if you need on-campus TSI arrangements.  Follow the registration link below.

TSIA2

The new version of the TSIA Assessment (TSIA2) will become effective on January 11, 2021 and will replace the current version of the TSIA. The scores for either version of the TSIA will be valid for 5 years from the test date. The current TSIA and TSIA2 test results cannot be combined for the same subject area.

The ACC Testing Center also provides the following testing services.

TSI Assessment (Texas Success Initiative) is the only state-approved test to assess reading, writing, and math skills for college level placement.  Click here for more information and test preparation resources. To go directly to the TSI registration and payment page, click here.

The HESI A2 Exam is an admission requirement for several of ACC’s allied health programs. The HESI A2 Exam consists of seven academic exams and a personality profile that identifies the applicant’s learning style. Click here to register for the HESI. The cost of the exam is $74.

High School Equivalency Exam (HSE): The 2014 GED® test is a four-subject high school equivalency test that measures skills required by high schools and requested by colleges and employers.  The four subjects are science, social studies, mathematical reasoning, and reasoning through language arts.  For information, practice testing and registration, visit www.GED.com.  For a copy of a GED® certificate, visit TEA (Texas only).  For an out-of-state GED®, contact your testing center or yourGED® State Administrator. 

CLEP Testing: College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams test mastery of college-level material. Students can receive college credit for subjects in which they already have proficiency. A proctoring fee of $20 must be paid prior to testing.

Correspondence Testing: The Testing Center offers proctoring services for students attending other institutions. There is a $35 proctoring fee per exam, which must be paid prior to testing. Testers should contact the Testing Center directly at 281.756.3526 to schedule an appointment.

National League for Nursing (NLN) Anatomy & Physiology exam is available for nursing students who have not taken the class within the mandatory 5 year time period. This is exam is online via a remote proctor directly with NLN. Testers should contact the Testing Center directly at 281.756.3526 for assistance and registration procedures.

Instructor Initiated Testing (out-of-class, online and make-up exams):  Upon instructor request, students may use the Testing Center for course exams. Students should call 281.756.3526 or email assessement@crewbar.net for scheduling an appointment.

Students with disabilities requiring additional test time or specialized testing may test in the Testing Center. For accommodated testing, please call 281.756.3526 to schedule an appointment. 

Please note that all students (including minors) must present photo identification for testing. Students under the age of 16 must have a parent, legal guardian or authorized responsible adult on campus while testing.

 

TSI Exemptions

ACT

  • ACT administered prior to February 15, 2023: composite score of 23 with a minimum of 19 on the English test shall be exempt for both the reading and writing sections of the TSI Assessment, and/or 19 on the mathematics test shall be exempt for the mathematics section of the TSI Assessment;
  • ACT administered on or after February 15, 2023: a combined score of 40 on the English and Reading (E+R) tests shall be exempt for both reading and writing or ELAR sections of the TSI Assessment. A score of 22 on the mathematics test shall be exempt for the mathematics section of the TSI Assessment. There is no composite score.

SAT

  • a minimum of 480 on evidence-based reading and writing (EBRW) for an exemption in reading and writing
  • a minimum of 530 on math for an exemption in math

TAKS

  • A minimum score of 2200 in math for an exemption in math and/or
  • 2200 in English Language Arts - with a sub score of 3 for an exemption in reading and writing

STAAR – end of course (EOC) assessment

  • A minimum score of Level 2 (4000) on English III for an exemption in reading and writing and/or
  • A minimum score of Level 2 (4000) on Algebra II for an exemption in math

Degree Exempt – Students who have an associate or baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution or from a college recognized international institution are exempt from all TSI requirements.

Transfer Exempt/Passed – Students whose previous Texas public college or university has determined that they have met minimum passing standards in reading, writing, and/or math are exempt in the curricular area/s indicated. Scores must be verified by an official transcript.

Private/Out of State Transfer Exempt – Students who transfer from a regionally accredited college or university and have earned at least three semester hours of college level credit in a designated college core class, are exempt upon entry. These credits must be verified by an official transcript.

Veteran Exempt – Students who were honorably discharged, retired or released from active duty in the armed forces, Texas National Guard or any reserve component of the armed forces on or after August 1, 1990 may be exempt. A DD214 showing discharge status and date is required.

Military Waiver – Students on active duty in the armed forces, the

Texas National Guard, or any reserve component of the armed forces and have been serving for at least three years preceding enrollment may be exempt.
